PREVENTION SERVICES
The O'Brien House
Prevention Department has a long history of serving the city of
Baton Rouge. The prevention program began in 1965 to increase the
understanding of the nature of alcoholism, treatment, and its
prevention. Today, O'Brien House Prevention Services focuses on
youth programming and community education through their education
and prevention programs, literature, and a video lending library.
Prevention Services works to build and maintain six pillars of
character: trustworthiness, responsibility, citizenship,
fairness, respect, and caring.

country
because it involves both parent and child.
The program's purpose is to:
-Increase protective factors while decreasing risk factors for
addiction in the future
-Improve family relations and parenting skills within the family
unit
-Increases awareness in appropriate child rearing, supervision and
relationship skills
-Enforce appropriate moral, ethical, and behavioral characteristics
